Ranked Choice Voting: goodbye Nader effect!

Jul 22, 2008

Ranked Choice Voting. Also known as Instant Runoff Voting. Seriously, this is one of the best ideas to come from the political world. Ever! How have I not heard of it until now?

No more bullshit squabbling about spoilers, about who Nadered who, about how voting third party is going to take away votes from the “practical” choice. No more discrepancies between values and strategy.

With RCV, your vote – your choice – is meaningful!

Check out the video below and tell me it’s not amazing:

Really. Just think about many election-time political flights would be prevented!

Solid video. This might be the subject of a blog post tomorrow morning. In the interim: there is “No ‘Effin Way” that the Democratic and Republican controlled government will do anything to approach legitimizing 3rd and 4th party candidates.
    With that said:
    1st- Bob Barr, 2nd – John McCain, 3rd – Barack Obama

Democrats and Republicans would, yes, most likely oppose it. However, it seems that DNC Chairman Howard Dean is for it.

Nickyyy!!! I thought maybe you were mad at me after we debated third party candidates and I questioned/countered certain parts of your argument re: spoilers and I didn’t see you around after that. (Your arguments were the strongest of all the Comments left, so, I was a little bummed.)

Glad to see you! And, interesting video. I’ll have to think about it and may blog about it. Thanks for posting this!
